Rafael Montero had a rough outing for the Leones del Escogido last night, he got only one out while allowing four hits and one run. The first batter he faced was Diory Hernandez who hit a solo homerun. He then retired Joey Terdoslavich on a ground ball to first base before allowing three consecutive singles to load the bases. He was bailed out by his teammate Kelvin Villa who stranded the runners.

Montero has now pitched 9.2 innings in the Dominican League allowing four runs and striking out seven.

Former Met Ronny Paulino had the game-winning two-run single in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Leones a 2-0 lead in the best-of-9 championship series over the Tigres del Licey.

The Aguilas de Mexicali lost 4-2 last night tying their best-of-7 championship series at one game a piece. Aguilas catcher Xorge Carrillo went 0 for 3, he is now hitting .341 during the playoffs.

In the Puerto Rican Winter League last night was the tie-breaking game between the Criollos de Caguas and the Cangrejeros de Santurce to see who would move on to the championship round. The Cangrejeros squeaked by in a 1-0 pitchers duel for the right to play the Indios de Mayaguez.

Johnny Monell was 1 for 3 on the night and hit .341 in the playoffs for the Criollos. He was selected by the Indios in the player draft they have after each round in the playoffs that includes the group of players from teams that have been knocked out.
