In naming the fastest prospect for each organization, MLB Pipeline has named OF Ranfy Adon as the fastest prospect in the Mets organization. In naming him such, MLB Pipeline noted he exhibits speed in the field and on the basepaths:

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound outfielder can fly on both sides of the ball, with long, graceful strides that help him cover large swaths of territory and get down the line from the right side of the plate in a hurry.

With his speed, Adon has had a range factor in center comparable to Juan Lagares. On the basepaths,Adon has not only been able to steal a double digit bases in three out of his five minor league seasons, but he has been stealing bases more efficiently. In fact, he went from being successful in 67% of his attempts in 2018 to 79% in 2019.

What is interesting is Adon did not lead the Brooklyn Cyclones in steals last year. In fact, it was Jake Mangum who did that. However, Mangum’s range factor was lower than Adon’s, and he was successful in 77% of his stolen base attempts (17/22). Overall, Mangum’s speed was rated as a 65 by MLB Pipeline.

That should give a good indication just to how fast Adon is. If Adon is able to translate his speed and his other tools, which MLB Pipeline describes as some of the best in the Mets organization, he could take off in 2020 and have a real breakout season.
