Rivera, Taijeron and Ynoa Named PCL All-Stars

T.J. Rivera, Travis Taijeron, and Gabriel Ynoa were named to the 2016 Pacific Coast League All-Star team.

Rivera was signed out of Troy University as an undrafted free agent in 2011. This is Rivera’s second year playing in Las Vegas. He has split time between first, second, third, and left field while hitting .361/.400/.521 with seven homers and 52 RBI. He was previously named the Pacific Coast League’s Player of the Month for the Month of May.

Taijeron was the Mets 2011 18th round draft pick out of California Polytechnic State University. This is his second year playing in Las Vegas. The right fielder is hitting .306/.389/.562 with 12 homers and 66 RBI.

Ynoa was signed by the Mets as a 16-year old free agent pitcher out of the Dominican Republic in 2009. This is Ynoa’s first year playing for Las Vegas. In 16 starts, Ynoa is 9-3 with a 3.77 ERA and a 1.336 WHIP.

These players and the rest of the Pacific Coast League All-Star team are going to be managed by Las Vegas 51s manager Wally Backman. This is Backman’s eight season as a manger in the Mets minor leagues and his fourth with the 51s. The 51s are in second place in the Pacific Southern Division with a 41-37 record.

The Pacific Coast League All Star Game is scheduled to be played on July 13th at 7:00 P.M. The game will be aired on the MLB Network.
