Savannah Defeats Greenville To Win Fourth Straight

Game three of the four game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Greenville Drive was played Saturday at Grayson Stadium.

Savannah out hit Greenville 12-9 and won 9-3.

In the first inning, Savannah scored two runs. Yeixon Ruiz led off the inning with a walk. Dominic Smith singled and  Jon Leroux was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A walk to Victor Cruzado scored the first run, followed by a walk to Nelfi Zapata to score the second run.

Greenville scored a run in the 4th inning. Back to back singles by Tzu-Wei Lin and Wendell Rijo was followed by a double play placing Lin on third base. A single by Kevin Mager scored Lin.

Savannah added thee runs in the 6th inning.

Five convective singles by the Sand Gnats in the 7th inning, helped push across four runs.

The Drive rallied in the 9th inning. Lin singled and went to third on a double by Sam Travis. Mager doubled to drive in two runs.

Savannah starter, Alex Panteliodis (W,5-3), came close to a complete game, pitched 8.2 innings, allowed three runs on nine hits, a walk, and  no strike outs. Reliever John Mincone struck out the only batter he faced in the 9th to end the game.

The announced attendance was 3,213.

The final game of the four game series starts at 2:05pm Sunday at Grayson Stadium.
