Savannah’s Winning Streak Hits Five Games By Sweeping Away Greenville

The final game of the four game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Greenville Drive was played Sunday afternoon in front of 1,017  fans at Grayson Stadium.

Savannah edged Greenville 3-2 and swept the series.

Greenville took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning when Franklin Guzman singled and scored on a home run over the left field fence by the catcher Danny Bethea, his first home run this season.

In the 3rd inning, Savannah tied the game at 2-2. Leading off the inning, catcher Colton Plaia singled and went to second on a ground out. Champ Stuart then singled and a throwing error on the play by the shortstop, allowed Plaia to score. Stuart stole second and  Dominic Smith doubled to score Stuart.

The Sand Gnats scored a run in the 6th inning when Stuart reached first base on a bunt and advanced to second on a ground out.  A double by Matt Oberste scored Stuart, which turned out to be the winning run.
