Shawn Teufel Transferred to Brooklyn Cyclones

shawn-teufelShawn Teufel, son of current Mets third base coach and 1986 World Series champion, Tim Teufel, is headed for the New York Penn League. He spent the start of 2013 in Double-A with the Binghamton Mets, but is being transferred to the Brooklyn Cyclones, according to the official twitter account of the B-Mets.

He was used exclusively as a reliever in Binghamton, appearing in 15 games, spanning 19 innings pitched. The southpaw posted a 4.26 ERA and 1.79 WHIP by allowing 14 hits, 20 walks, and striking out 21 hitters.

The Cyclones are are set to begin their 2013 season on Monday, as they take on the Staten Island Yankees on the road. Their home opener will be the next night on the 18th, also against Staten Island.

This is the second roster change this morning for the B-Mets, as it also became official that fellow southpaw reliever, Jack Leathersich, is heading for Triple-A Las Vegas.
