Simeon Woods-Richardson was electric in his first professional outing for the GCL Mets. The young righty pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his first professional save and picked up his first professional strikeout in the process.

The more exciting part of the outing was his velocity readings. Woods-Richardson hit 99 MPH on the gun three times per scouts in attendance. Woods for the most part had his velocity had 95 MPH or so when he was drafted but perhaps refined mechanics and adrenaline got it up to 99 today.

It will be even more exciting if he manages to keep this up. He is only in the bullpen because the Mets are trying to ease him into his professional career while also managing his innings. He could have a few starts down the line this season but expect him to begin in Kingsport or Brooklyn next year.

The drafts Woods-Richardson with their second round pick this year.
