The Mets selected 17-year-old Simeon Woods-Richardson with their second round pick in the 2018 draft and to this point the results have been very encouraging.
Woods-Richardson, right-hander from Texas, made his pro debut on July 22 with the GCL Mets flashing a 99 mph multiple times in a scoreless inning. His second outing came on July 27 when he tossed two scoreless innings.
On Thursday, the 6’3” former two-way high school star pitched three scoreless innings in his first pro start with the GCL Mets.

In the three inning outing he allowed two hits, on walk and struck out four. The velocity readings are important for SWR because he was a guy described by scouts with inconsistent velocity throughout his outings.
