It wasn’t the worst of starts for Rainy Lara, who seems to be adjusting successfully to the FSL, but he was saddled with the loss due to the Mets’ inability to score runs all night. Lara pitched the first six innings and allowed just two earned runs while striking out five. His current FSL ERA stands at 1.86, but he falls to 0 – 2. Wanel Mesa was ineffective in his two innings of relief behind Lara as well — walking five batters and giving up a home run.

Robbie Shields managed a hit and a walk on the evening and was the only St. Lucie player to reach base twice. T.J. Rivera picked up the other base knock for the Mets. Matt Reynolds was ejected in this game in the seventh inning. St. Lucie’s website tabs Domingo Tapia as tomorrow’s starter.
