It wasn’t the best of starts for Noah Syndergaard on Saturday, but the big righty battled his way back to what will be a no decision once the same comes to a conclusion.  Tacoma, who has seen Syndergaard already once this season, got to him immediately making all wonder if it was going to be another one of “those” outings.  When “Thor” was replaced after six innings it didn’t look all that bad.

After a not so good start to his Triple-A career with Las Vegas, things seemed to be turning the corner a bit for Syndergaard.  His last couple of outings have been good which in turn elevated everyone’s expectations.  We were yet again reminded that the boy is human and the road to Flushing is going to take some time.

One thing that has been a worry has to be the amount of base runners Syndergaard allows in his starts.  One statistic that pops out when you look at his season numbers are the amount of hits given up.  After the start on Saturday, “Thor” has conceded 48 hits over a span of 43.2 innings.  While that isn’t an alarming amount, it would be nice for the trend of allowing more hits than innings pitched to stop.

On the other side of this has to be his strikeouts.  He has the ability to just reach in his back pocket seemingly when he needs to to get the strikeout.  Saturday he had a season high 10.  He has had six or more k’s in each of his last four outings which is something good to take away from all of this.

Syndergaard’s final line for the night was 6 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 10 K.  He threw 104 pitches, 77 for strikes.
