After a one day reprieve, the Binghamton Met offense was back at work Monday night pounding out 11 runs and 15 hits as the B-Mets downed Erie, 11-4. Travis Taijeron led the potent Binghamton attack going 4-for-5 with a double and home run and five RBI’s.

The offensive explosion helped Greg Peavey coast to his 10th win of the season. Peavey threw 5.1 innings allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, striking out five and walking one. Chase Huchingson and Dario Alvarez finished the night on the hill for the B-Mets combining to strike out 5 more Erie batters the rest of the way.

A red hot Jayce Boyd got Binghamton on the scoreboard slamming his 7th HR of the season in the B-Met second. Boyd, who went 3-for-4 and scored three times, raised his batting average to .293 on the year.

Binghamton blew the game open scoring 5 times in the visitor’s third. With one out, Brandon Nimmo started the rally directing a soft line drive to left field for a single. Dilson Herrera’s line drive to center sent Nimmo to second and both runners scored when Brian Burgamy doubled. The two RBI’s give Burgamy a team high 75, third best in the Eastern League.

After Jayce Boyd walked T.J. Rivera, who went 3-for-5, singled home Burgamy. Back-to-back singles by Taijeron and Xorge Carrillo plated both Boyd and Rivera.

Boyd led off the fifth with a single but the big hit in the inning was a Taijeron double as the B-Mets added two more runs to take a 8-2 lead. Taijeron’s 15th home run of the year, a three run blast that cleared the left field wall complete the Binghamton offensive assault.

The B-Mets remain hot on the heels of first place Portland who was idle last night. Binghamton Eastern League record stands at 77-51, one full game behind the Sea Dogs.
