Jon Heyman of Fan Rag Sports reports Mets outfield prospect Tim Tebow could begin the 2018 with the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies if he has a good Spring.

As we saw with the Mets last year, the Mets are going to be willing to be aggressive with Tebow, and they are not going to necessarily base their decision upon the stats.

In what was a surprise last year, Tebow was promoted to St. Lucie despite his only hitting .220/.311/.336 with three homers and 23 RBI in 64 games.

What wasn’t a surprise was Tebow helped both Columbia and St. Lucie draw the most fans either team has drawn in their history. Quite possibly, Tebow would have a similar effect in Binghamton even despite his no longer playing in “SEC country.”

Overall, if the Mets continue to be aggressive with their promotions of Tebow, we could see him play for Triple-A Syracuse in what would be the Syracuse Mets inaugural season.
