It was Tim Tebow’s first day with the St. Lucie Mets and even though his reputation preceded him, he made a great first impression. After going 1-for-2 with a walk in the first game of a double header, Tim Tebow went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in the second game.

The Mets lost both the first game (5-2) and the second game (5-3) against the Palm Beach Cardinals.

Tebow’s home run came in his first at-bat of the second game – a wall scraper but it counts just the same. It came off right-hander Junior Fernandez, the Cardinals No. 10 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

The home run came in front of 2,315 fans which is 540 more than the average attendance so far this season.

Peter Alonso hit clean-up and played first base in the first game, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. He wen’t 0-for-3 in the second game and his season average sits at .239.

Justin Dunn started the first game for the Mets and was not helped at all by his defense. He pitched six innings and allowed five runs, only two of which were earned. He served up four hits, walked three, and struck out three.

Recently promoted infielder Michael Paez went 2 for 3 with a run scored in the second game.
