Before the 2017 season, those that followed Luis Guillorme and the Mets minor league system closely knew how truly gifted a defensive player he was. Unfortunately, that left many people unaware of how great he is. After he caught Adeiny Hechavarria‘s bat in spring training, everyone knows his name, and everyone is waiting for his next great defensive play. Well, he delivered:
It should come as no surprise this is the leading vote getter for MilB‘s Play of the Week for the week of June 2nd – June 8th. This will Guillorme’s second such honor this season. Seeing how terrific he is defensively, there will be many more of these to come.
He is something special
If he could hit .150, I’d take him at SS on the big team right now.

And of course…there’s his legendary bat catch in spring training. He’s special.
It took Ozzie Smith a few seasons to develop as a hitter. His athleticism may help him develop ML quality bat control later. He is a wizard!
