syndergaard-gdIs it me, or does it suddenly feel like the sky is falling? On the heels of the terrible news that Mets ace Matt Harvey has a partially torn UCL, top prospect Noah Syndergaard had the worst outing of his professional career.

Taking the mound tonight against Bowie, Syndergaard had been brilliant over his last four starts– allowing just one earned run in total. Well things definitely took a turn for the worse, and quickly. The big right-hander allowed four runs in the first– two on a double by Bowie shortstop Josh Horton. The wheels continued to fall off from there, as Syndergaard allowed four more runs in the second, and three in the third. When his night was over he left the mound trailing 11-0. In all, Noah allowed nine earned runs on nine hits, three of them homeruns. He struck out five and walked two.

Hopefully this was just an off night for Syndergaard. He came into the game not having pitched in nine days. Perhaps that was a factor. I pray that was the reason. This organization doesn’t need any more bad news.

The B-Mets would go on to lose the game by the same 11-0 score after some solid work from Armando Rodriguez, Ryan Fraser, and Jeff Walters — but their offense would muster just two hits all night.
