According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network via Twitter, the pending sale of the Mets organization to Steve Cohen will also include the Syracuse, Port St. Lucie, and Brooklyn minor league franchises as well.

It was widely expected that the Syracuse and the Port St. Lucie teams would be included in the deal since both franchises were subsidiaries of the New York Mets. However, the addition of the Brooklyn Cyclones, who are a separate entity under the Sterling Equities portfolio, does come as a bit of a surprise.

With minor league contraction widely expected to occur in 2021, and Brooklyn reportedly replacing Binghamton as the (AA) team, this would give Cohen control over most of the Mets minor league organizational structure as well. The Columbia Fireflies (A) would be the only remaining minor league team under a Player Development Contract with the Mets, though, this deal is set to expire at the end of the season.
