The Arizona Fall League season began on Tuesday night, as the Scottsdale Scorpians played against the Mesa Sky Sox. The Scorpions took an early 6-0 lead and held on to win the opener 7-4.

There are eight Mets prospects on the Scorpions’ roster, but Tomas Nido was the only one of them to get into the game. Nido, who batted sixth and played catcher in his AFL, had two hits, including a home run. His eighth inning solo home run to left field gave the Scorpions a three-run lead.

Nido homered off Cubs prospect right-hander Pedro Araujo. Araujo allowed only three home runs in 66.2 regular season innings.

The other seven Mets players on the Scorpions rosters are RHP Mickey Jannis, LHP Kyle Regnault, RHP Matt Pobereyko, RHP Tim Peterson, INF Luis Guillorme, OF Kevin Kaczmarski and 3B David Thompson.

The Scorpions will play their second game of the season Wednesday afternoon at 3:35 EST against the Mesa Sky Sox.
