Las Vegas 6, Salt Lake 5

Well, someone lit a fire under Carlos Torres before his Friday night start – because he was absolutely stellar en route to earning his third win of the season. He pitched seven innings and struck out an eye popping ten – which is not only a lot for him, but for the entire 51s staff. He scattered seven hits and allowed two runs to cross the plate – only one was earned, however. No walks is always a big plus.

Josh Edgin struggled after he got taken deep by left-handed Brad Hawpe for a two-run home run in the eighth, but David Aardsma worked around a shaky frame of his own for the save.

The 51s went deep twice – one each from Josh Satin and Kirk Nieuwenhuis. Satin’s was a solo shot in the fifth to cap off the Vegas scoring at six runs at that point, which would barely be enough to get the win. Chris Schwinden is supposed to take the mound for LV tomorrow.
