Travis d’Arnaud has been in Port St. Lucie for a few days as he begins the road to rehab with his fractured left foot. When he was examined last week, we found out he would have to wear the boot for a few more days, but could start to put weight on it and get closer to commencing baseball activity. Today on twitter, the top catching prospect in baseball announced he didn’t have the boot on his left foot any longer, and made a little joke out of it:

It’s nice to see d’Arnaud finally get the boot off and begin baseball activity; between him getting back on the field and Zack Wheeler possibly making his MLB debut next week in Atlanta, there are some reasons for Mets fans to get excited.

d’Arnaud remained in major league spring training until the last week of camp, when the Mets decided to option the backstop to Triple-A Las Vegas. He appeared in 12 games (36 at-bats) prior to fracturing his foot, and was hitting .250/.429/.472 with one home runs, eight RBIs, and five doubles for the 51s.
