The Pacific Coast League announced their three Triple-A Home Run Derby Participants with Las Vegas 51s outfielder Travis Taijeron being one of the players selected.
Taijeron has followed a 25 homerun season with 13 in the first half of the 2016 campaign. Taijeron has hit .314/.394/.579 in 80 games with the Las Vegas 51s this season. Taijeron has 94 hits, 50 of them where for extra bases.
Taijeron leads the PCL with 34 doubles and is tied for tenth with 13 homeruns. His .579 slugging percentage is fourth in the PCL.
It’s the sixth season in the Mets organization for 27-year old right fielder. The power hitter was drafted by the Mets in the 18th round of the 2011 draft. In those six seasons, Taijeron has an impressive .522 slugging percentage. He has hit 160 career doubles and 104 career home runs in 2025 at bats.
Taijeron has at least 15 homeruns in every year between the 2012 and 2015 season and will most likely reach that mark this season again.
The derby will take place on Monday July the 11th at 7 PM ET.
Don’t matter. Allan Dykstra won the belt with the 51’s and the Mets kicked him to the curb
And now he’s playing in the Mexican League. Why do you always seem to be so sour?
Just trying to point out that the Mets do not reward good play At AAA. Most teams leave a spot or two on the 40 man open to reward players at AAA and call them up in September, with no intention of retaining those players. It promotes good will with the players and provides a financial incentive. The Mets don’t do this. It promotes a vile club house.
See Nevin Ashley-the back catcher in Vegas- as evidence. The Brewers called him up and he got a few weeks of major league pay and the they cut him.
Conforto went oppo tonight on a line drive with a 3 for 4 night. Looking good.
