Former New York Mets pitcher Tyler Pill has signed a minor league deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, and he was assigned to the Reno Aces.

Pill was the Mets 2011 fourth round draft pick, and he made his Major League debut last season.

In three starts and four relief appearances, Pill was 0-3 with a 5.32 ERA and a great 1.455 WHIP. His best appearance was his first career start when he allowed just one earned run over 5.1 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Pill has earned this opportunity because he was having a career best year in Las Vegas. In 13 starts, he was 4-3 with a 3.47 ERA and a 1.307 WHIP.

Pill would be shut down in late July, and he would undergo season ending surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow.
