Right-hander Tylor Megill will start for the Mets in their game against the Braves on Wednesday, as Anthony DiComo of MLB was the first to report.

The news comes after Marcus Stroman had to depart early on Tuesday, potentially another hit to an already depleted rotation. It also comes shortly after it was announced that Joey Lucchesi will have to undergo Tommy John surgery.

Megill was an eighth-round pick by the Mets in 2018 out of the University of Arizona. In 140 minor league innings, he’s posted a 3.41 ERA and an eye-popping 12.0 K/9. He’s only pitched three games above Double-A though, posting a 3.77 ERA in three games at Triple-A.

In 2021, he’s put up a 3.35 ERA with a 13.2 K/9 in eight starts between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse. He’ll make his major league debut against the Braves at Citi Field on Wednesday with a 7:10 p.m. ET start time.
