LV

Sacramento 9, Las Vegas 3

The 51s jumped ahead in the bottom of the 1st inning on a double by Jordany Valdespin; scoring Ruben Tejada and Wilmer Flores.

What seemed like it was going to be a good night in Las Vegas took a turn for the worse, as the wheels fell off for starter Chris Schwinden in the 4th inning. After cruising through the first three innings, Schwinden allowed a leadoff double to Michael Choice. By the time the inning was over, Sacramento would add a home run by David Freitas and the score was 3-2 in favor of the River Cats.

Schwinden would exit after the 4th due to a high pitch count. The bullpen would keep the game close with Jack Leathersich and Sean Henn pitching scoreless innings. John Church and Robert Carson wouldn’t fare as well, allowing two and four runs respectively in their combined three innings of work. Just like that the game was out of reach.

The 51s would add a run on an RBI single by the red-hot Valdespin in the 8th, but it wasn’t nearly enough.
