Update: According to a source, Joel Fuentes will slide down from the St. Lucie Mets to be the first hitting coach in Columbia Fireflies history.

According to Adam Rubin, Valentino Pascucci will be the St. Lucie Mets hitting coach in 2016 after holding the same role for the Savannah Sand Gnats last season. He was the hitting coach for the Gnats the past two seasons after retiring from baseball following the 2013 season. The last time he was in the big leagues was with the Mets in 2011 when he went 3 for 11 with a homerun.

Pascucci was drafted by the Montreal Expos in 1999, he has 305 homeruns and 1067 RBI in his career that covers stops in the Mexican League, Independent ball, and Japan.

No word yet on what the role of Joel Fuentes will be for the 2016 season after being the St. Lucie Mets hitting coach for the last two seasons. Fuentes has been in the Mets organziation for nine years, he has been a hitting coach for the Savannah Sand Gnats (2012-2013) and the Brooklyn Cyclones (2008-2009). He was also the hitting coach for St. Lucie from 2010 until 2011.

This move also leaves an opening for the Columbia Fireflies hitting coach position.

Yesterday we talked about the Brooklyn Cyclones coaching situation including Sean Ratliff becoming their new hitting coach.
