Tucson 5, Las Vegas 4

The Las Vegas 51s surrendered two runs in the ninth inning today in dropping their regular-season finale to visiting Tucson, 5-4.

The good news for 51s is the game didn’t matter in the standings. They clinched the Pacific Coast League’s Pacific Southern Division on Saturday.

Tucson’s Sean O’Sullivan had a run-scoring double to tie the game at four in the ninth. Two batters later, Dan Robertson plated the winning run on a sacrifice fly.

Jamie Hoffmann led Las Vegas with a two-run home run, Rylan Sandoval was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored, and catcher Juan Centeno had two triples.

The best-of-five-game championship series against Northern Division champion Salt Lake begins Wednesday in Utah. The 51s host games Nos. 3-5 beginning Friday at Cashman Field. Games 4 and 5 are if necessary.
