Las Vegas dropped their third straight, their seventh loss in their last ten games, losing to Albuquerque 8-4 Friday night. The 51s, now 10-12 on the season, continue to unintentionally echo their parent club.

Vegas starter Ricky Knapp gave up four runs in the first inning. He allowed the Isotopes to bat around giving up two singles, a double, a triple and a sacrifice fly. A walk and an error helped it all add up to a four spot. Sloppy defense contributed to a deficit that kept growing as the game went on.

Isotopes starting pitcher Jeff Hoffman held the 51s’ offense to one hit through seven strong innings, striking out eight. The only time the 51s threatened was in the bottom of the second. Travis Taijeron and Phillip Evans walked with one out. Then L.J. Mazzilli reached on catcher interference loading the bases. But Xorge Carrillo struck out and Knapp lined out to the shortstop.

Vegas mustered a too little too late rally in the bottom of the eighth, scoring four runs all off Albuquerque reliever Shane Carle. After two walks, Gavin Cecchini singled to load the bases. Amed Rosario followed with a 2-RBI double to drive in the 51s’ first runs of the game. Dominic Smith plated another with a ground out. Then Taijeron singled to drive in the fourth run before a double play killed the rally.
