Who’s Hot:

Ruben Tejada: Tejada is hitting .382 in the last seven days, and he has collected multiple hits in three consecutive games. He’s now hitting .286 with a .332 on base percentage and 14 doubles in 54 games for Las Vegas this season.

Chris Flexen: Chris Flexen continued his domination of the Appalachian league with two brilliant outings this week for Kingsport. He pitched a complete game shutout last Tuesday, striking out 11 batters and only yielding two hits and one walk. In Flexen’s next start, he surrendered only one run and five hits in six innings. The right-hander’s record for the season now stands at 8-1, and he owns a sparkling 2.09 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in 69 innings pitched.

Miller Diaz:  Diaz tossed 7 spectacular innings in Brooklyn’s 10-2 victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters on Friday. Diaz struck out 11 and allowed only 3 hits and 3 walks over 7 shutout innings.  Diaz has been fabulous for Brooklyn this season, going 5-3 with a 2.22 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 56 innings.

Who’s Not:

Jacob deGrom: deGrom struggled in his latest outing for the Las Vegas 51’s. He permitted six runs, seven hits, and two walks in five innings pitched on Friday. For the season, deGrom is 7-7 with a 4.45 ERA and 1.44 WHIP, and he has struck out 119 in 145 innings pitched across three levels in the minors.

Kevin Plawecki: Although Plawecki is having an excellent season overall, he has cooled off considerably recently. He is hitting .200 in the last 7 days, and he is hitting only .240 with one home run in the month of August.

Phillip Evans: Evans was regarded as a solid prospect going into the season, but he has struggled mightily for the Savannah Sand Gnats in 2013. The 20-year-old shortstop is hitting .202 with only 2 home runs and 25 RBI in 334 at bats, and he has only recorded two hits in his last 27 at bats.
