T.J. Rivera3

Who’s Hot:

Brandon Nimmo, St. Lucie Mets

Brandon has been feasting on opposing pitchers and was riding an eight game hitting streak through April 15th. Over the seven game stretch from April 9th-15th, Brandon knocked out 13 hits including five multi-hit games. During that stretch, he hit .433 with a .514 OBP while scoring nine runs and driving in five. His week included an April 10th performance where he scored three runs, recorded two hits including his first home run of the season and walked twice.

T.J. Rivera, St. Lucie Mets

Not to be outdone by Nimmo, T.J.’s hot bat continued, as he hit .440 over a seven game stretch, recording 11 hits, scoring six runs, hit three doubles, a home run and drove in seven. T.J. led St. Lucie’s 20 hit barrage in Jupiter on April 10th when he went 4 for 6 with a double and five RBI’s.

Dilson Herrera, St. Lucie Mets

Another hot hitter for St. Lucie, Dilson had a 7-game hitting and run scoring streak going from April 9th-15th during which he had 14 hits, five multi-hit games, hit .424, had and OBP of .457, scored 10 runs, three doubles, and a pair of RBI’s.

Akeel Morris, Savannah Sand Gnats

Akeel has been practically unhittable out of the bullpen for the Sand Gnats, and on April 9th the Augusta Greenjacks couldn’t touch him. In three innings of relief, Akeel allowed no hits, walked one batter and recorded all nine outs via strikeout. Over Savannah’s last seven games, he made two appearances, pitched 5.2 innings, allowed a hit, a walk, struck out 12 and allowed zero runs.

Who’s Not:

Dominic Smith, Savannah Sand Gnats

The 11th overall pick in last year’s draft has been struggling at the plate for Savannah. After going 2 for 4 on April 9th, he picked up just two more singles over the next several games and finished the April 9-15 stretch with just four singles in 27 at bats, hitting just .148 over that stretch.

Julian Hilario, St. Lucie Mets

It’s been a rough start to the season for the Dominican right hander. After a poor first week in the St. Lucie bullpen, he continued to get beat up, appearing in just one game from April 9-15th. His only appearance came against Jupiter on April 14th, where he gave up three hits, two walks, five earned runs and one home run while striking out no one.
