Who’s Hot/Who’s Not Lower Minors: St. Lucie Bats On Fire, Pitching Struggling To Keep Up

Who’s Hot:

T.J. Rivera – St. Lucie

The Bronx native once again makes the Who’s Hot list as he continued his torrid hitting. On the week, he collected 12 hits including four multi-hit games while batting .414 with a .459 OBP. His 12 hits included two doubles, one home run, and nine RBI’s. On April 18th at Fort Myers, he went 4 for 6 with three RBI’s. On the season, Rivera is hitting .392 with a team leading 29 base hits.

Brandon Nimmo – St. Lucie

The first round pick of the Mets in the 2011 draft also continued his hot ways, banging out nine hits in 25 at bats for a .360 batting average with one triple, five RBI’s, six runs scored, and three stolen bases. He also collected six walks for an OBP of .484 for the week. On the season, Nimmo is hitting .360 with 27 base hits to go with a .467 OBP.

Brandon Allen – St. Lucie

Currently rehabbing in St. Lucie before being sent to Las Vegas, the first baseman played his first game of the season on April 17th and has hit in all four games, collecting five hits in 13 at bats for a .385 batting average with two doubles, two RBI’s and six walks for a whopping .600 OBP. Allen signed a minor league deal with the Mets this past November after spending 2013 at AAA Tuscon in the Padres organization.

Jeff McNeil – Savannah

The Mets 12th round pick in the 2013 draft is off to a good start in the 2014 season in Savannah, second on the team with a .313 batting average. While riding a six game hitting streak that ended on Wednesday, Jeff hit .450 on the week with two doubles, one home run, and five RBI’s. His week was highlighted by his April 21st performance at Delmarva where he went 3 for 6 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two RBI’s.

Who’s Not:

Gabriel Ynoa – St. Lucie

The Dominican native has pitched his way onto the Mets Prospect Radar the last few seasons which included 15 victories in 2013 with Savannah, but he is off to a slow start in 2014. Gabriel had a rough outing on April 16th against Jupiter, lasting just 2.2 innings in his start, allowing eight hits, six runs, walking three, striking out only one and allowed a two-run home run in the third inning.

Michael Fulmer – St. Lucie

The 44th overall selection in the 2011 draft got knocked around at Fort Myers on April 18th, raising his season ERA to 11.05 with opponents hitting .391 against him. He lasted just 2.1 innings while giving up nine hits, walking one, allowing eight runs, one home run, and striking out two.
