Who’s Hot:

Travis d’Arnaud C, Las Vegas: It’s been disappointing season for d’Arnaud because he’s missed significant time due to a broken foot, but d’Arnaud has been terrific since returning from the DL. This week, he’s hitting .400/.571 /.800 with one home run and three RBI in 20 AB’s. The reports are that he will be promoted once John Buck is placed on paternity leave, so he could be getting the call up any moment now.

Cory Vaughn, OF, Binghamton: Vaughn has also missed significant time this season due to injury, and like d’Arnaud, he’s also been scorching hot since returning from the DL. This week he has crushed two home runs and drove in seven RBI while hitting .304.  Vaughn was in the midst of a hot streak before his injury, so it’s encouraging to see that he has picked up right where he left off.

Jacob Lugo, SP, Savannah: Jacob Lugo has been flying under the radar for most of the season, but he is starting to earn some recognition lately. Lugo, the Mets 34th round pick in 2011, dominated in his start this week against the Hickory Crawdads.  He delivered seven shutout innings and he fanned 11 batters while allowing only four hits and no walks.  In two starts for Savannah this season, Lugo is 1-0 with a 0.96 ERA and a 0.46 WHIP and he has struck out 21 in 13 innings pitched.

Who’s Not:

Domingo Tapia, SP, St. Lucie: After a brilliant season for Savannah last year, Domingo Tapia is struggling mightily this season for the St. Lucie Mets. He’s 2-8 with a 5.00 ERA for the season, and he had another atrocious outing last Wednesday against the Bradenton Marauders. Tapia surrendered four hits, four walks and 7 runs in only 1.1 innings pitched.

Wuilmer Becerra, OF, GCL: Becerra was one of the pieces acquired in the R.A Dickey trade last winter, but he has gotten his Mets career off to a very slow start. For the GCL Mets ,Becerra is hitting, .214/ .320/ .237 for the season with no home runs and only 15 RBI. His struggles are continuing this week as Becerra is hitting just .235 /.316 /.235 with two RBI.

Darrell Ceciliani, OF, Binghamton: While Ceciliani is enjoying a nice bounce back season after an injury plagued 2012, he has started to cool off recently, Ceciliani is hitting .083 with no extra base hits or RBI and just three walks this week.  However, overall for the season, he’s hitting .279./337/.398 with 60 runs scored and 28 steals in 33 attempts.
