Winter Ball Recap: Kaczmarski on Fire in AFL

In Arizona Fall League action on Wednesday, the Scottsdale Scorpions won 9-5 with the help of a few Mets prospects.

Kevin Kaczmarski recorded another multi-hit performance. The  left fielder went 2 for 4 with a double, RBI, walk, and two runs scored. He has now recorded a hit in every game he’s played and has gone 8 for 17 for the Scorpions.

David Thompson went 2 for 4 with a run, double, and RBI. The third baseman is now hitting .333 with a .908 OPS in four games thus far. He has played all of them at third base.

Luis Guillorme went 1 for 4 and was the designated hitter. He has also played one game at shortstop and one at second base. Guillorme is 5 for 12 with an RBI in three games.

Tim Peterson pitched two scoreless innings with the Scorpions after giving up a run in his first appearance. Peterson is coming off a dominant season with the Rumble Ponies. He had a 1.14 ERA in 55.1 innings with 53 strikeouts and 0.78 WHIP.

Other Mets AFL Participants:

Lefty Kyle Regnault has thrown 3.2 scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts so far. Knuckleballer Mickey Jannis allowed only an unearned run during his only start that lasted three innings. Right-hander Matt Pobereyko has struck out four compared to no walks in 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.

Catcher Tomas Nido is 4 for 16 with a home run, two doubles, two RBI and five strikeouts.

Winter League Participants: 

Darwin Ramos gave up three runs in one inning pitched in the Venezuelan League for the Magallanes. Ramos picked up the loss in the game.
