Arizona Fall League (AFL)

AFL West All-Stars 7 – 6 AFL East All-Stars

With new Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen in the crowd, Peter Alonso sought to make an immediate impression. In the first inning of the game, he turned on a 104 mph fastball from Nate Pearson and launched it over 415 feet to dead center field to give the East All-Stars an early 1-0 lead. According to Statcast, Alonso is the first registered player to have hit a home run against a fastball greater than 103 mph.

Power vs. power! @BlueJays Nate Pearson, throwing 104 mph (!!!), sees @Mets Pete Alonso turn one around on him for a first inning homer!

After striking out in the fourth inning, Alonso would reach base two more times via walks and would score both times in sixth and eighth innings. He also made a superb diving play in the fifth inning to rob Cavan Biggio of an extra base hit.

Crismatt turned in another solid outing but ended up with the loss in this one as the Tigres offense only managed five hits against the Estrellas pitching. Crismatt got into trouble in the second inning after allowing a double and a single to put runners on first and third with one out. While he did allow one run to score on a base hit, Crismatt did generate a pair of strikeouts to limit the damage.

After a smooth third inning, Crismatt was again in trouble in the fourth after back to back singles put runners on first and third with no outs. Crismatt would allow a run to score on a sacrifice fly, but then followed that up with a ground out and another strikeout to keep the score at 2-0. Crismatt would finish his night, after a clean fifth inning, having tossed 81 pitches(56 strikes). On the season, Crismatt now has a 2.65 ERA with a solid .232 AVG against and a solid 26% strikeout rate.

Toros del Este 9 – 3 Leones del Escogido

Another perfect inning of work for Peterson who drops his season long ERA down to 2.16 and his season long average against down to .107 AVG while striking out an astounding 48% of the batters he’s faced.
