Toros del Este 2, Tigres del Licey 0

While we struggled at the plate going 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts, catcher Bruce Maxwell was behind the dish the entire time as five Toros del Este pitchers combined to no-hit the Tigres del Licey. Right-hander Pedro Payano was one of those pitchers tossing an inning of work with strikeouts of Texas Rangers infielder Anderson Tejada and Indians catcher Sandy Leon.

Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German completed the first four innings of the no hitter. He was followed by two innings from former Mets right-hander Jenrry Mejia, Payano, an inning from outfielder turned reliever Anthony Gose, and finally another former Met in Tim Peterson.

Aguilas Cibaenas 4, Estrellas Orientales 3

Making his Dominican Winter League season debut for the Estrellas, Mets righty Ariel Jurado held an Aguilas line-up, full of MLB talent, in check allowing only one run on three hits across four innings pitched while striking out three. Jurado allowed a first inning single and a stolen base to Nationals outfielder Victor Robles, who promptly stole second, followed by an RBI single by former Mets outfielder Juan Lagares to open the game.

After that though, Jurado was lights out retiring the next ten batters before allowing a single and walk with two outs in the fourth inning. He would strand both runners though, with a strikeout of Mets teammate Robel Garcia. Garcia would end up finishing the night 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.

Jurado threw a total of 48 pitches of which 29 were strikes (60.4%).

Leones de Escogido 9, Gigantes del Cibao 6

Down 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Leones called on right-hander Adonis Uceta to try and keep the game close. Things did not go well for him though as he allowed a lead-off single (who was promptly thrown out attempting to steal second) followed by a four pitch walk and another single to start the inning.

With runners on first and third with one out, Uceta would generate the ground ball he needed to end the inning, but, a throwing error by Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Nate Lowe prolonged the inning and allowed a run to score. Uceta would bounce back to retire to next two batters to keep the score at 5-2 which was huge for the Leones as they would tie things up in the top of the eighth inning.
