It was an uneventful night for Mets hitters in the Arizona Fall League as they were shut down by a quartet of Kansas City Royals pitchers in Scott BlewettArnaldo HernandezGrant Gavin, and Walker Sheller. The four of them combined for nine innings pitched, allowing only four hits and two walks while striking out eight Scorpions. The lone bright spot for the Mets was a scoreless inning of work from right handed reliever Stephen Nogosek. He was able to generate two ground outs and a strike out for his second successful inning of work this fall season.

Toros del Este 6 – 0 Leones del Escogido

Smith seems to be in the involved in every rally started by the Toros this season and tonight was no exception. In the top of the second inning with the game still scoreless, Smith led off the inning with a single through the left side of the infield. He would score one batter when Jacob Wilson ripped an RBI double down the right field line to give the Toros a 1-0 lead. The Toros went on to score four more runs in the inning and jumped out to an early 5-0 lead.

That’s all the offense the Toros would need as the quartet of Tyler EpplerBrett OberholtzerLuis Santos, and Leovanny Rodriguez would shut out the Leones while only allowing four hits all game. In his other three ABs, Dom Smith would ground into a double play, fly out to left field, and fly out to right field.

Gigantes del Cibao 7 – 5 Aguilas Cibaenas

Terdoslavich had himself a short night tonight but still played a role in the win for the Gigantes. After walking in the first inning, Terdoslavich came to bat in the top of the third inning with a runner on second with two outs and hit a double to left field to give the Gigantes a 2-0 lead. The Gigantes would score three more runs in the fourth inning and gave Terdoslavich another RBI chance. With runners on second and third and two outs, he was called out on a check swing third strike that he did not agree with and ended up being ejected by the home plate umpire.
