Las Vegas 51s @ Iowa Cubs, 1:05pm EST
Matt Fox (1-0, 5.40 ERA) vs. Chris Rusin (2-4, 4.33 ERA)
Fox heads to the mound for his second start since getting picked up by the Mets organization. He got things off on the right foot by beating Omaha in his 2013 debut with Las Vegas. He’ll still be looking to improve from his last performance; Fox went five innings and allowed three runs on six hits (two home runs), no walks, and six strikeouts. Before joining the Mets, Fox was pitching for the independent league York Revolution.
Binghamton Mets @ New Britain Rock Cats, 10:35am EST
Mark Cohoon (3-1, 3.96 ERA) vs. Logan Darnell (3-3, 2.83 ERA)
Cohoon takes the mound for the ninth time this season with the B-Mets, with this being his fifth start. In his last apperance against Portland, he took the no decision, allowing four runs on eight hits (one homer), two walks, and five strikeouts in five innings pitched. He’ll try to pitch into the sixth inning for the first time this season. In his last three starts, he’s thrown 14.2 innings while allowing 16 hits, eight walks, and 18 strikeouts.
St. Lucie Mets @ Dunedin Blue Jays, 6:35pm EST
Jenrry Mejia (0-0, 6.00 ERA) vs. Austin Bibens-Dirkx (1-0, 0.00 ERA)
We’re getting used to watching Mejia make his way through the minor leagues as a part of his rehab assignment. In his first start since March 11th, the right-hander went three innings, allowing two runs on five hits, three walks, and six strikeouts. He was obviously a little rusty from not pitching in a game for the better part of two months, but let’s hope he can start to show some command of his pitches and limit the walks.
Augusta GreenJackets @ Savannah Sand Gnats, 7:05pm EST
Joe Biagini (2-0, 4.94 ERA) vs. Robert Gsellman (1-1, 2.70 ERA)
Gsellman takes the mound for the third time with Savannah after a couple spot starts with Advanced-A St. Lucie. In his last start against Augusta, he didn’t pitch awful, but got the loss. He lasted only 4.1 innings pitched, allowing seven runs (two earned) on nine hits, one walk, and one strikeout. While the defense didn’t play great behind him, he’ll have to cut down on the hits he allowed to be successful. Gsellman is not a big strikeout guy (eight strikeouts in four 2013 starts), so he needs to have control over his pitches within the strike zone to in order to get deep into the ballgame.
