In the 2010 Draft, the Mets picked Peter Birdwell in the 25th round, 752nd overall.
Peter lasted three years in the Mets system and struggled with injuries, never rising above rookie level ball.
In 2010, he started out with the Gulf Coast League Mets and appeared in one game before being sent to the Kingsport Mets on July 2nd, remaining there for the remainder of the season. That season, he appeared in 17 games with one start with a record of 2-1 and an ERA of 3.82. He pitched 33 innings and allowed 32 hits, walking 23 and striking out 29 with a WHIP of 1.67.
In 2011, Peter was on the active roster at Kingsport for a limited period, from June 21st – June 27th. He appeared in three games out of the pen, pitching 6 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits, a walk and seven striking outs, with a WHIP of 1.58.
In 2012, Peter again saw limited time on the active roster for Kingsport from July 17th to July 21st. He appeared in two games, pitching three innings, allowing three hits, one walking and three strike outs and a WHIP of 1.33.
Peter announced his retirement in July 2012.
During his professional career, Peter appeared in 22 games with one start. His career record was 3-1 with a 4.68 ERA. He pitched 42 1/3 innings, allowing 44 hits, walking 25 and striking out 39 with a WHIP of 1.63.

Thanks, but a suggestion. I personally am not interested in guys who played briefly, then left baseball. To me, stats for guys like that would be enough for anyone but the hardest of hardcore Met junkies, unless it was a premier prospect who left baseball due to an injury, etc.. I would be much more interested in articles like this for guys who are still playing in the organization.
BTW – Merry Christmas. I am selecting Jesus in the First Round; after all, it is His birthday, He’s a 5 tool ballplayer (all 5 tools from His carpentry shop), and he is a flawless athlete with what is likely to be a VERY long career. he’s also very forgiving of the mistakes of his fellow players.
