Salt Lake Bees @ Las Vegas 51s, 10:05pm EST
Jarrett Grube (4-1, 3.12 ERA) vs. Carlos Torres (2-3, 6.30 ERA)
After struggling through his first six starts for the 51s, Torres has turned in two straight solid performances in Triple-A. His worst start of the season came on May 8th against Round Rock, as he lasted four innings and allowed nine runs on 10 hits, three walks, and four strikeouts. Since then, he’s gone 1-0 in two starts. During that time, he’s thrown 12 innings and allowed five runs on nine hits, three walks, and eight strikeouts. Torres will try to get himself on track at home, where he’s gone 0-3 with an 8.22 ERA in five starts this season.
Portland Sea Dogs @ Binghamton Mets, 7:05pm EST
Drake Britton (3-4, 4.79 ERA) vs. Cory Mazzoni (2-1, 3.60 ERA)
Mazzoni takes the hill tonight for his fifth start of 2013, looking to win his third straight decision. It will also be his second consecutive appearance against Portland, facing them while on the road in his last start. He earned his second win of the season at Portland, but it wasn’t his best line; Mazzoni threw 6.1 innings and allowed five runs on 10 hits, one walk, and four strikeouts. He’s given up more hits than innings pitched so far (25 hits in 20 IP), but his K/BB ratio is very impressive, currently sitting at 6:1.
Bradenton Marauders @ St. Lucie Mets, 6:30pm EST
Nick Kingham (5-2, 3.42 ERA) vs. Domingo Tapia (2-3, 2.23 ERA)
Tapia returns to action for the first time since May 5th, as he’s scheduled to get activated from the seven-day disabled list for tonight’s contest. Despite being sidelined for the better part of the month, Tapia’s 32.1 innings pitched are third on the team, and his 2.23 ERA is first among the starting staff. Most of his success this season has come at home, so he’s happy to be taking the mound at Tradition Field tonight. In five home starts, Tapia is 2-1 with a 1.17 ERA with 26 strikeouts and eight walks in 30.2 innings pitched. On the road, opposing hitters are only batting .167 off him, but he’s 0-2 with a 21.60 ERA. Why? He’s only lasted 1.2 innings through those two starts.
Augusta GreenJackets @ Savannah Sand Gnats, 7:05 pm EST
Matthew Lujan (0-0, 2.45 ERA) vs. Matthew Koch (2-2, 4.30 ERA)
Koch performed well in his last appearance to earn his first win as a starter in 2013. He went six innings allowing one run (none earned) on four hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. His first three appearances came as a reliever, and he struggled to an 8.38 ERA, allowing 15 hits in 9.2 innings pitched. Koch was used primarily as a reliever last season with Brooklyn as well, and had similar results, compiling a 5.01 ERA in 23.1 innings pitched. His ERA as a starter currently sits at 2.29, and opponents are hitting .241 off him, compared to .357 as a reliever. In his 29.1 innings pitched in 2013, he’s allowed one walk, compared to 25 strikeouts.

Good to see Tapia finally back. Now if we can get Mateo on the mound as well that would be great also.
Definitely. Interested to see how he performs tonight.
This Torres in the rotation experiment has more than run its course. Montero should be in this rotation; there’s no reason Torres should get this spot over him. That said, I’m excited to have Tapia back.
It hasn’t been fun to watch Torres or Mitchell toss when it’s clear Montero is ready for AAA. Hopefully this nonsense will end soon.
