Adam Rubin of ESPN NY writes that the Mets signed right-handed reliever Buddy Carlyle to a minor-league contract and it does not include an invite to the big-league camp.
Carlyle, 36, last pitched in the majors in 2011 with the Yankees, where he was 0-1, with a 4.70 ERA, in eight games. In his career he has also pitched for the Braves, Dodgers and Padres.
In 2013, he pitched in Triple-A with the Blue Jays organization and was 4-2, with a 3.86 ERA, with 76 strikeouts in 56 innings.
