It’s been a pitching dominated series in Harrisburg with the Binghamton Mets and the Harrisburg Senators splitting the first two games of the three games set.  The Senators eked out a 2-1 decision Friday night only to drop Saturday’s game 3-1.

Binghamton scored in their first at bat Friday night, then came up short the rest of the way.  With two outs and no one on base, Brian Burgamy was hit by a pitch then came all the way around to score when Dustin Lawley lined a gaper into left-center field.

The Senators scored a single run in the bottom of the inning off B-Met starter Gabriel Ynoa and added the winning run the following inning.  That was all the scoring for either team on Friday.

The B-Mets had numerous chances to tie the game but came up shorthanded nine different times with runners in scoring position.

Ynoa pitched well allowing only two runs over six innings and Adam Kolarek threw two innings of scoreless relief for Binghamton.

Rainy Lara was spot on for Binghamton throwing 7.2 innings of scoreless ball as the B-Mets topped the Senators on Saturday.  Laira scattered six hits, walked one and fanned four in winning his 6th game of the season against four losses.

John Velasquez recorded the final out in the eighth with Cody Satterwhite picking up his 13th save of the year to ‘put it in the books’ in the ninth.  Satterwhite allowed one unearned run.

As they did on Friday, the B-Mets got on board early scoring a run in the opening frame.  It only took Dilson Herrera one at bat to announce he was back after the Binghamton second baseman returned after a two-game absence.  Herrera blasted a one out line drive home run over the left field wall for his seventh home run since his arrival in Binghamton.  Herrera is batting .339 with 22 extra base hits and 37 RBI’s for the B-Mets.

Lara and Brandon Nimmo opened the Binghamton third with back-to-back singles.  Both runners scored when Burgamy smacked a double to right field.

For the second season in a row, the B-Mets pitching staff has excelled.  Binghamton pitchers have struck out 921 batters, the second highest total in the Eastern League while walking only 325, the second fewest in the league.
