The first game of the four game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Greenville Drive was played Thursday evening at Grayson Stadium.
The Sand Gnats bats were hot in the 8th inning as they scored four runs and won the opener 4-0.
It was a masterful pitching performance by Savannah starter, Logan Taylor, pitching 8.2 shutout innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and struck out four. Dawrin Frias faced one batter in the 9th and recorded the final out of the game. Taylor is 1-3 with the win.
Leading off the 8th inning for Savannah, Patrick Biondi doubled and scored from second base on a wild pitch. After two outs, Dominic Smith walked and Matt Oberste followed with a double to score Smith. Victor Cruzado doubled to score Oberste. Nelfi Zapata then singled to score Cruzado.
The announced attendance was 1,886.
Game two of the series starts at 7:05 pm Friday at Grayson Stadium.
