Hopefully Dom Smith can bounce back from his rough 0 for 5 night.
He did. RBI double
Dom Smith! RBI double in the first inning for the B-Mets down the right field line.
Matt Oberste follows with RBI groundout, B-Mets up 2-0.
Tyler Pill works around two errors (Mazzilli & Romero) to pitch a scoreless first inning.
Maikis De La Cruz doubles and scores in the second inning for Binghamton who now lead 3-0.
Tyler Pill strikes out two in the second but allows a solo blast, B-Mets lead cut to 3-1.
Dominic Smith is retired in his second at bat, hard hit ball to the first baseman off a curveball.
Pill has his first 1-2-3 inning of the day in the 3rd.
Erie tied the game up in the 4th inning with a two-run double. B-Mets coming to bat in the 5th in a 3-3 game.
Awful call by the umpire gives Dominic Smith a two-run triple, right fielder made a great play against the wall to catch it but somehow the ump missed it.
Good news is that is the third time today that Smith has pulled the ball with authority.
Pill gives up two more runs in the 5th to tie the game at 5. Why haven’t they converted him to a position player yet?
Erie takes a 6-5 lead in the 6th inning off Luis MAteo who has struggled to start the season.
B-Mets head to the 8th trailing 6-5, Dom Smith is up second.
Missed the play, got the update that Smith tripled. First thought was that must have been a sight
B-Mets fall to the SeaWolves 9-5, Smith knocks in three runs.
Lineups for St. Lucie and Columbia just added. Becerra continues to be out.
Champ Stuart leads off the game for St.Lucie with a homerun. Amed Rosario tripled in the inning too but was stranded.
St. Lucie trails 2-1 in the 4th and Columbia is down 3-0 in the 3rd.
Outfielder Joe Tuschak hits the first Fireflies homer in Spirit Communications Park. Fireflies tired with Greenville at 2.
Amed Rosario has a double and triple tonight for St.Lucie, they are winning 3-2 in the 5th.
Very nice. Should be in Binghamton before too long. Has he drawn a walk yet?
Nope which is certainly an issue and has struck out 8 times.
Yea, at least he’s hitting well.
Doubt the Mets promote him though until he shows some more patience at the plate.
They definitely shouldn’t!
Tim Peterson pitches a 1-2-3 6th inning with two strikeouts for St. Lucie. Still have 3-2 lead.
Tyler Bashlor pitching for the Fireflies on his 23rd birthday, gives up solo homerun to first batter he faced. Columbia down 4-2.
He just hit 95 MPH with his fastball.
St. Lucie headed to the bottom of the 9th with a 3-2 lead.
Hey Mike, if Matz gives it up like a prom date in his next start who gets the call when they DL him? The guy has pitched like dookie all year.
It as only one start, he isn’t going anywhere. However, if Mets need a starter I think it could be Lugo long-term and obviously Verrett is the spot guy.
St. Lucie gets the 3-2 win, Ricky Knapp gets the victory and Corey Taylor the save.
Thanks, I just wanted your opinion on who you thought was the next starter inline. I think Lugo as well but I’ve never put eyes on Gsellman. And Matz has yet to have a good start in’16. I hope the kid does well.
Gentlemen, I disagree. If he is getting pitches to hit and he’s looking for a walk, then he’s just like the Mets that are passive. If he’s chasing pitches, getting himself out and racking up strikeouts, that’s a different story. He looks just fine so far. This level may be too easy for him, but the success certainly helps the confidence.
