The Florida State League has named Mets prospects Tomas Nido and Corey Taylor to their end-of-season All-Star team.
Nido was the Mets 2012 eighth round draft pick out of Orangewood Christian High School in Maitland, Florida. The 22-year old catching prospect had a breakout year hitting .310/.348/.448 with 22 doubles, one triple, seven homers, and 44 RBI. Nido was ranked as the 14th best prospect in the MMN Midseason Top 50 Prospect List.
Nido was named to the Florida State League’s Mid-Season All-Star Game. He was named to the 2015 Mid-Season All Star Game in the Sally League last year.
Taylor was the Mets 2015 seventh round draft pick out of Texas Tech University. The 23-year old right handed closer was 4-5 with 19 saves, a 1.94 ERA, 1.275 WHIP, and a 3:1 strikeout to walk ratio in 44 relief appearances.
This is the first time in Taylor’s brief professional career that he has been named an All-Star.

Corey Taylor’s an interesting guy to keep an eye on. Doesn’t have a ton of upside, but, we might get a chance to see him next year, if he does well enough in AA/AAA. I always like the college relievers who can help out the MLB team quickly (McGeorge from this year’s draft comes to mind as a guy who could do that). Nido’s not bad either (top catching prospect over Sanchez, in my opinion)
I’m very curious to see how Taylor does in Bingo next year, I haven’t seen or heard anything that suggests he’s more than a middle reliever. Doesn’t miss a ton of bats and without a plus second pitch,
