Yesterday in Port St. Lucie, the Mets had their second instructional league intrasquad game with the most reported news being that Tim Tebow had his best day as a pro. Tebow had two singles at the plate, both to opposite field, and a sliding catch in left field.

More importantly for the Mets going for forward were two of the guys that took the mound; righties Marcos Molina and Cameron Planck.

Molina missed the entire 2016 regular season after getting Tommy John surgery in September of 2015. Reports from the game had Molina throwing in the low 90’s and he struck out Tebow on four pitches in the first inning.

Planck, the Mets 11th round this year, did not pitch during the regular season in the minor leagues after signing in the second week of July for a million dollars. The 18-year old pitcher threw the third inning yesterday and topped out at 93 MPH according to this article from the TC Palm.

Relievers David Roseboom and Corey Taylor also pitched in the game. Roseboom, Taylor and Molina are tuning up for their appearances in the Arizona Fall League next month.

Tebow stayed for awhile after the game to sign autographs for a large portion of the fans in attendance.

The Mets instructional league will play their first scheduled game today against the St. Louis Cardinals at noon in Port St. Lucie on the back field of the Tradition Field complex. They play the Marlins on Thursday as well.
