Baseball America continued their Top 20 prospects from each league with them choosing Brooklyn Cyclones starter Harol Gonzalez as the New York-Penn League’s Pitcher of the Year.

The 21-year old right-hander led the league in ERA (2.01) and strikeouts (88) while throwing the second most innings with 85. His seven wins were third in the league and his sparkling 1.01 WHIP was tied for second. He was a NYPL mid-season all-star and we ranked him as our #27 prospect at MMN.

Now getting into the Top 20 prospects in the NYPL where Baseball American ranked three Mets prospects in the top 10 in addition to Gonzalez.

The highest ranked Mets prospect is right-hander and 2016 first round pick Justin Dunn at number three. The 21-year old finished is first pro season going 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA, .227 opponents average and struck out 35 batters in 30 innings. His outings were maxed at three innings after a heavy college workload this year.

Right behind Dunn on the list was the Cyclones talented center fielder Desmond Lindsay ranking fourth. The Mets top pick from the 2015 draft had the start of his season delayed because of injury but when he was on the field he showed off the five tools that have fans excited.

Lindsay, still only 19 years old, finished the season hitting .297/.418/.450 in 32 games (111 at-bats) for the Cyclones while playing 29 of those games in center field. He walked 20 times compared to 26 strikeouts and stole three bases as he still looked tentative on the base paths given his hamstring injury history.

First baseman Peter Alonso was eighth on the list of best prospects in NYPL despite having his season cut short after breaking his pinky. The 21-year old showed off the power that got him drafted by the Mets in the 2nd round with a .587 slugging percentage that would have led the league if he had enough at-bats to qualify.

In their previous report, BA ranked Mets lefty Thomas Szapucki as the 8th best prospect in the Appalachian League.
