Baseball America announced its list of the Mets Top 10 Prospects. The top of the list looks much like you would expect with Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith 1-2 in the rankings. One name that was surprisingly left off the list by Baseball America was Andres Gimenez. In 2015, as a 16-year old, Gimenez was signed as a shortstop out of Venezuela for a hefty $1.2 bonus. In his first year of professional baseball, Gimenez showed everyone why the Mets gave him such a large bonus with him hitting .350/.469/.523 in 62 games combined for the Mets Dominican Summer League teams.
Overall, when true high-end prospects like Gimenez are left off the Top 10 list, it speaks to the quality of the Mets farm system, and it gives you hope that the Mets current run of success can continue well into the future as the major league team is being reinforced with terrific prospects.

Ynoa at #9. The seems to be very optimistic.
Ynoa did not show much at the major league level, BUT had a lower minor league ERA pitching at Las Vegas than Gsellman who split minor league season between Las Vegas and Binghamton.
I mean really, what is Ynoa doing at #9. And I like Ynoa, but I just don’t see him as having the upside to be a top 10 prospect in this system. I’d be fine with the list if you swap Gimenez with Ynoa.
I got myself chastised on another website because I said this order was not right and misrepresented the prospect depth. The other person’s point was that a spot up or down doesn’t really matter. I guess he may be right, but I wanted Nimmo, Cecchini, and Gsellman higher than Dunn and Lindsey, with Buccerra, Nido and Lugo finishing up the top ten. I think Yona should be 13th, at best.

Was reading through the BA prospect chat and came across this:
“Venezuelan C Ali Sanchez is young and talented, but he also is coming off a .216 season (with no secondary skills) in the New York-Penn League.”
Now, I may be mistaken, but I tend to think that being an excellent defensive catcher counts as having good secondary skills. Unless he’s just referring to offense, in which case, I think you should note that he’s a plus defender.
I thought Nido should be higher rated. He won the batting title with excellent defensive skills! Nido higher; Ynoa off the top-10; Gimenez on the list.
I’m assuming that Lugo lost his eligibility
