Regnault must be promoted to big club.
Also, Mark Vientos made his pro debut
I was at the game in Salt Lake. Amed made a couple of great plays. First, he very athletically grabbed an errant Smith throw to keep a ball from flying into left. Nexr, and much more impressively, he bare handed a two-hopper on the other side of second and threw out a fast runner. He showed good speed on the bases even while getting thrown out stealing. He did not get all that great a jump and the throw was right on the money.
His triple was something of a humpback liner the right fielder just missed with a dive.
Smith really didn’t show me all that much. A couple of good plays in fhe field, the one bad throw that Rosario saved, and his hit he beat out. A little thick in the middle, still he looked smooth and like he belongs.
Travis T hit a few absolute ropes against the very average Salt Lake pitchers.
I agree with anyone replacing Salas at this point. I think they should they with Regnault & McGowen.
Yeah, I cringe whenever Salas comes into a game. But… he has a track record of pitching better in the second half. If he starts that up again, the Mes might be able to get something for him in a late August trade.
Yeah. I’m tired of hearing Russ Langer tell Regnault’s backstory ad nauseum. Gary Cohen will overtell it, too. But maybe he can make it sound better.
You can’t judge on one game. Smith has made tons of great plays at 1st this year, throws included. And several of them over the past week.
