Las Vegas 12, Colorado Springs 7

Brandon Hicks and Mike Baxter had home runs Monday for the Las Vegas 51s in a 12-7 home victory against Colorado Springs in the final game of an eight-game homestand at Cashman Field.

The 51s put up lopsided offensive numbers all night, scoring three runs in the third and eighth innings, and four runs in the fifth. The Nos. 2 to 5 batters in the Las Vegas lineup — Jamie Hoffmann, Andrew Brown, Ike Davis and Wilmer Flores — each scored two runs. Catcher Juan Centeno went 3-for-4 with a team-high three RBIs and Flores also had three hits.

D.J. Mitchell was ineffective, giving up five earned runs, but was the beneficiary of a strong offensive performance. Of note is Jack Leathersich, who struggled a little and allowed two earned runs over two innings — but struck out four.

Las Vegas went 3-5 on the homestand. Tuesday, they open a series at Tucson. The next home game is Saturday against Salt Lake.
