MMN’s Matthew Brownstein reports Mets starting pitching prospect Jordan Humphreys underwent Tommy John surgery today. Humphreys had not appeared in a game since his June 30th start for the St. Lucie Mets.
The surgery officially ends what had been a great season for Humphreys. The right-handed pitcher made 13 starts between Columbia and St. Lucie. Overall, he was 10-1 with a 1.79 ERA, 0.868 WHIP, and a 9.3 K/9.
Likely, we will not see Humphreys pitch for a Mets minor league affiliate during the 2018 season.
Humphreys, 20, was the Mets 2015 18th round draft pick. MMN ranked him as the Mets 20th best prospect.

Well, that really stinks
Guess they wanted to give rest a chance before surgery and in the grand scheme of things it cost him maybe a month or a little bit more but hopefully he’ll be back for Fall Instructionals and maybe even the AFL if he shows enough in Instructionals
Yeah he had great numbers. Likely starts in High A in 2019 after some rehab starts in a lower level. So maybe 3 years if all goes well he could see himself on a major league mound. He seems like one of those prospects that gets traded at some point.
