In the St. Lucie Mets 6-5 win over the Tampa Tarpons, the offense was led by right fielder Ian Strom.  On the night, Strom was 2-4 with a run, triple, homer, and two RBI.

This game was part of an impressive and unexpected power display from Strom to start the season.  In three games this season, Strom has a triple, two homers, and is slugging 1.000.

To put in perspective how unexpected this power display is, Strom hit two homers in three collegiate seasons playing for UMass Lowell.  In 2016, Strom did not homer in 37 games in the Appalachian League.  Last year, in his time split between Brooklyn, Columbia, and St. Lucie, Strom would only hit four homers in 57 games, and he would slug just .403.

If Strom really does now possess increased power, his ceiling is much higher, and the Mets 2016 22nd Round draft pick will be poised to have a breakout season.
