The Los Angeles Dodgers have claimed LHP P.J. Conlon and assigned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Conlon was designated for assignment by the New York Mets in a series of moves designed to bring some fresh arms to help a tired and overworked Mets bullpen. One of the three relievers called-up was Scott Copeland, who after just one game, would also be designated for assignment to make room on the 40 man roster for the Mets to recall Jose Lobaton.
Conlon, 24, was the Mets 2015 13th Round draft pick out of the University of San Diego. Entering this season, he was ranked by MMN as the Mets 24th best prospect.
Conlon was the 2016 Organizational Pitcher of the Year, and he was the MiLB Fans Choice for Best Starting Pitcher that year.
When Conlon was called up earlier this year, he became the first Irish born player to play in the Major Leagues since Joe Cleary, who pitch one-third of an inning for the 1945 Washington Senators.
Conlon had two no decisions in his two starts for the Mets allowing seven earned (11.12 ERA) in 5.2 innings.
